LISA PERNELL

Her love for the Lord, Jesus Christ, led Pernell on a spiritual quest to bring happiness in the midst of sorrow. It's a journey that began on July 4, 1999 when her father, Charles H. Pernell, died of cancer.

From her profound grief-stricken experience, Lisa understood the emotional and spiritual challenges of people whose lives have been touched by cancer.

What started as a therapeutic exercise to help Lisa deal with her personal loss has evolved into a Christian ministry. Baskets by Immanuel, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, offers emotional comfort and spiritual guidance to individuals who are living with cancer. The focus of the ministry is to embrace the human spirit during the various stages of treatment and recovery.

Her spiritual care baskets serve as the conduit of spreading God's love and encouragement to cancer patients during the various stages of treatment and recovery. With the help of a supportive team of volunteers, they deliver Baskets by Immanuel to persons in cancer support groups, hospice programs and oncology units of area hospitals.

As public awareness about her ministry continues to grow; the single mother of two remains steadfast in giving God the glory and the honor. Lisa insists that Baskets by Immanuel is not about her; it is about serving the Lord and spreading His love to others who need spiritual support as they deal with cancer.

In her journey to maintain peace and to strengthen her faith, Lisa has helped others to embrace the comfort of God's love.

BasketsbyImmanuel, Inc. is a national 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing hope, education, and quality supportive care services to complement and enhance traditional patient care for individuals diagnosed with cancer. Baskets by Immanuel strives to touch the human spirit during the various stages of treatment and recovery.
